On 21th of September we're celebrating International Cease Fire Day. On this day small groups of peace activists organize various events in many countries all over the world. The purpose of this is to draw the attention of people to wars that constantly take plane on our planet, resulting with casualties in civilians, women, children. It still takes place in Sudan, Iraq, Israel, Chechnya - and Europe is silent!
During the Peace Festival, where 130 people form different cultures met, we've decided to remind the world about this day, to reach teh public opinion and to hand a petition to local governement to acknowledge this day as an official.
On 21th od September ad 2 PM under the monument of Adam Mickiewicz (greatest polish writer) on the Main Square of Krakow Peace March began. It had been organized by Templar Network - Manko Association, Free Caucasus Committee and Krakow youth.
40 people marched through main streets to the
Marchal's Office and the Krakow's Municipality Office, where two youth
participants of Peace Festival, Paulina Kuras and Tomasz Liszkiewicz, handed
the petition to local authorities. Andrzej Furmaniak, Krakow's commune viceforeman, met with the
demonstrating youth and congratulated them the idea. During the March
participants chanted peace slogans, and handed leaflets to the by-passers.
